Short Term Car Insurance Advice
A short while ago I had no idea what short term car insurance was to be honest I had no idea it even existed, well now I do and to be honest it is possibly the most useful thing that I have discovered in recent times especially in terms of helping my social ability.
My situation was that I was going on holiday with friends down to Cornwall to ride BMX with my mates and camping in a camp site nearby, I live about 5 hours drive away from Cornwall but own a car that is quite thirsty on the juice so we decided my car would probably not be the best car to take. However my best friend has a much more economical car which he was happy to use and also to drive, as I am sure you can appreciate having to drive to Cornwall for a week whilst conducting the slightly risky pass time of BMX riding it can prove a few opportunities for exhaustion and also injury. We also had an extra consideration that my best mate is a type 1 diabetic so needs careful monitoring of blood sugar etc. so coupled with the demands of BMX riding sometimes he may need a rest or might not feel like driving. As we are quite a careful bunch and as I quite like to drive I asked my mate if he wouldn’t mind me driving his car, he didn’t so I started wondering about the insurance cover one thought led to the other and I searched on the Internet for cheap short term car insurance to my surprise I found many different specialist insurance providers.
All of these insurers I found were willing to offer short term car insurance cover for a varying length of time ranging from a single day for any specified period of weeks or months. This is when I though of all the other possibilities for this type of cover for example if your car breaks down and you need to use a relatives car or as a favour you need to pick up a friends car from a garage or airport I think you get the idea the possibilities are endless.
As with any insurance research and patience is required to get the cheapest temporary quote especially if you are under 21, to get short term car insurance under 25 years of age is just as challenging as a normal insurance quote but not impossible. So be organised and persistant make sure you set a budget and stick to it and dont commit to anything unless your happy with the quote. You will fast discover that this is a real alternative to getting hold of a hire car for example because short term car insurance is a much cheaper method of obtaining use of an alternative car if your in a bit of a bind.
